Programme Manager, Enterprise Management, Dec 2006 to Nov 2009

Taking this assignment during Initiation, Ed completed this phase obtaining commitment of senior management to the Programme Brief and Terms of Reference, then assembled a team and planed the Delivery phase of this large and complex implementation of multiple technology streams.

Vendor negations were completed for software then infrastructure designed, purchased and implemented. The project scope covered Netcool as Manager of Managers, WebTop for console views, Formula/MyMO for Business Service Visualisation, MOM 2007 and NimBUS as Windows and Unix agent technologies and Netuitive for advanced performance correlation. This product suite and infrastructure covers a server estate of 20,000 systems across the globe with a wide and demanding user community.

Following an aggressive rollout schedule, the products were delivered to a wide ranging group of stakeholders, initially in the First Line Global Service Centre and Production Support followed by multiple Application Support teams. This involved the engagement and co-ordination of teams from First, Second and Third line support, Application Development and close co-operation with Service Management in order to implement ITIL based service management best practice using the revised tools.

The project was delivered within budget cost and time-scale, yielding cash payback in 3 years, improved productivity and substantially improved scalability and flexibility within Enterprise Management. It was followed by establishing a programme of business benefit realisation engagements, delivering the added value of the new product set to the Application and Platform Support users of the monitoring, visualisation and event management systems.
